The Second Incentive: DC Solar Renewable Energy Certificates (SREC's). These certificates can be cashed in upfront, or brokered over time. The maximum upfront amount you can get for your SREC's is equivalent to 65% of the system cost.

The First Incentive: A 30% Tax Credit from the federal government provided to any tax owed to individuals or businesses to the IRS. So, the average person who files taxes each year, and gets a tax return, will typically get 30% of the system cost back during your tax filing and returns. If you tax liability is less than the solar tax credit amount, then the remaining amount rolls over next year for you.
